đ¨Sea turtles need us: an urgent call from Playa RincĂłn

On a moonlit night in Playa RincĂłn, the sound of waves mixes with the soft rustle of sand. A mother sea turtle slowly emerges from the ocean, carrying inside her the promise of new life. She digs her nest, lays her eggs, and returns to the sea, leaving behind a fragile hope: that one day, her hatchlings will follow the same path back to the ocean.
For more than a decade, this is the miracle we have witnessed âand protectedâ night after night here in Rascarey đ˘
Our work has always been simple in purpose but demanding in practice: safeguard every nest, protect every hatchling, and give nature the chance to thrive. Countless nights have been spent patrolling the beach, relocating eggs to a safer place, and ensuring that thousands of baby turtles reach the sea đ
But this work is not easy. It requires sacrifice, sleepless nights, and above all, courage. And recently, our courage has been tested in ways we never imagined.
Not long ago, one of our nests was ransacked. Soon after, our hatchery âthe protected space where we safeguard eggsâ was destroyed by people outside our project.

In just a few hours, hundreds of lives were lost.
For us, this was not just damage to a structure. It was the loss of a generation of turtles that would never reach the sea. It was a reminder of how fragile our fight is and how much these creatures depend on us.
Sadly, this is not an isolated event. Turtle eggs are stolen and sold illegally, threatening endangered species and forcing us into direct conflict with those who oppose our mission.
Why this matters to all of us?
Sea turtles are ancient beings that have swum in our oceans for more than 100 million years. Today, many of their species are on the brink of extinction.
Every nest counts. Every egg counts. Every hatchling that makes it to the ocean represents hope ânot only for turtles but for the balance of marine ecosystems worldwide.
These creatures help maintain seagrass beds and coral reefs, supporting the oceans that give life to us all. If we lose them, we lose more than turtles âwe lose part of our future.

What we need now?
To continue protecting turtles in Playa RincĂłn, we urgently need to reinforce security and improve our monitoring tools. Right now, we are vulnerable âand so are the turtles.
Here is what could change everything for us:
1 night vision drone
2 solar-powered surveillance cameras
2 communication radios
1 action cam (GoPro type)
2 night vision binoculars
2 camera traps
With these tools, we could patrol more effectively, discourage poachers, and document the reality of our work to inspire more people to act.
How you can be part of this story?đ
This is where you come in. Alone, we cannot win this fight. But with your help, we can rebuild what was lost, protect more nests, and ensure that thousands of baby turtles crawl safely toward the ocean each season.
You can help in two ways:
By making a donation through this link
By donating equipment directly. (Contact us at +506 8594-5964Â for more information.)
Every single contribution makes a difference. Whether it funds a piece of equipment or a single night of patrol, it brings us closer to saving more lives.
đ Join us in this mission. Be the reason a baby turtle makes it to the sea. Donate today and protect sea turtles for generations to come.
